HAWAIIAN shirts will be brightening workplaces in Dorset on Monday as part of an effort to promote mental health.

The second Get Your Shirt Together event sees workers in the digital and creative sector sport bright colours and donate to Dorset Mind.

The initiative is the brainchild of Maddie Crawford, who works for Bournemouth digital agency Adido and who came up with the idea last year.

“Get Your Shirt Together takes place on every Blue Monday, which is meant to be the bleakest day of the year – the third Monday of January – and it’s Hawaiian themed to chuck some colour into a grey day and in the process hopefully brighten everyone else’s mood and promote mental health,” she said.

The 20-year-old began with the intention of raising “a couple of hundred” pounds for Dorset Mind but collected £1,100 last year.

The initiative earned her recognition in the BIMA 100 – the British Interactive Media Association's list of leading figures in the sector.
