PROPERTIES, roads, farmland and a caravan park could see flooding, the Environment Agency has warned.

Three flood warnings are currently in place for parts of Dorset and Ringwood.

These are for the Lower Avon from Ringwood to Christchurch, Lower Avon at The Bridges and Stubbings Meadow in Ringwood and Lower Frome from East Stoke to Wareham.

The Environment Agency said river levels remain high at the Ringwood river gauge.

Bournemouth Echo:

A spokesperson said: “We believe there is a possibility of flooding for The Bridges, Little Thatch, Watermead, Capberton, Three Bridges and Old Bridge Cottage, West Street, Avon Edge and Stubbings Meadow Caravan Park in Ringwood. We expect river levels to remain high for at least 24 hours. We are closely monitoring the situation.”

Homeowners with property flood resilience equipment have been urged to install it now and stay aware in case further warnings are issued.

Other areas most at risk of flooding are Bicklerley, Ringwood and the B3347 from Christchurch to Stony Lane in Christchurch.

Stony Lane has been closed northbound at Burton due to flooding.

The Environment Agency said its response team is checking defences.

A spokesperson said: “Please avoid using bridges over local watercourses and can owners with property flood resilience equipment install it now.”

In Purbeck, river levels “remain high” at the East Stoke river gauge.

The Environment Agency said there is a possibility of flooding for areas in East Stoke, Holmebridge, Stoborough, Stoborough Green, Wareham, Redcliffe, Ridge and Swineham.

Flood alerts are also in place for the following locations: Poole Harbour, Lymington River and the Lower Stour and tributaries.

The flood alert for Poole could be in force for between two to four hours either side of high tide at 4pm. 

An Environment Agency spokesperson said: “We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Poole Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Frome and River Piddle.”

Yesterday, a number of roads saw flooding across Dorset following heavy rain on Tuesday night. Roads affected included Magna Road in Poole, Blandford Road in Hamworthy and Stapehill Road in Wimborne
