IT'S the ultimate fun bus.

Last night's energetic first night audience jumped on board Priscilla for the ride of their lives.

This glorious show is two and a half hours of pure glitter and glamour which sees the talented cast take on numbers including Go West, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, It's Raining Men, Hot Stuff and I Will Survive.

By the time we reach the finale opener, CeCe Peniston's Finally, there are very few members of the audience still in their seats, the majority dancing in the aisles, loving every moment.

But there is a more serious message to this fun-filled tale. Our trio of adventurers - drag queens Mitzi Mitosis, aka Tick, and Felicia Jollygoodfellow (Adam) and transgender woman Bernadette Bassenger - have to overcome prejudice and even violence as they travel across the outback in their battered old bus in a pilgrimage to put on the show of a lifetime and unite Tick with his six year old son for the first time.

Produced by debutant Jason Donovan, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert is loosely based on the Oscar winning movie of the same name, a cult hit when it was released in the mid 90s. It is ultimately a heart-warming tale of inclusivity wrapped up in an extremely glitzy package with a ton of attitude.

Strictly Come Dancing winner and Holby City actor Joe McFadden stars as Tick/Mitzi, the role previously made famous on the stage by one Jason Donovan, and delights with just the right level of exuberance and a surprisingly impressive vocal.

Three divas with voices of angels provide backing vocals and take on almost a narrator role in the show.

There are plenty of laughs with bitchy one liners like ' body from Baywatch, face from Crimewatch' going down a storm.

This celebratory coming out show revels in the super camp joys of drag and is a delight from start to finish.

Fun, flamboyant and fabulous, it's a great night out.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert runs until Saturday.
