‘IT’S not possible to walk to Swanage from Studland during low tide.’
That’s the warning from Swanage Lifeboat Station after two ramblers had to be rescued when they became cut off by the tide along the Purbeck coast at the weekend.
As reported, the pair become trapped between Ballard Point and Old Harry Rocks near Swanage on Saturday afternoon and were sheltering in a cave.
Initially Swanage RNLI’S inshore lifeboat was requested, with the all-weather lifeboat also requested to provide support.
Both of the people were rescued safely.
Swanage Coastguard also attended and volunteers captured an image from the cliffs of the rescue which was shared by Swanage Lifeboat Station on their social media channels.
Swanage Lifeboat Station said: “This photo, taken by the volunteers at Swanage Coastguard, shows our RNLI D-Class recovering the two casualties.
"It was just after low tide and shows quite clearly that it's NOT possible to walk to Swanage from Studland."
