HAMPSHIRE Wellbeing Centre has launched an innovative, free ‘Healthy Heart’ wellbeing programme, designed to help combat the risk of cardiovascular disease.

The bespoke healthcare facility, based at the Ageas Bowl, will offer weekly exercise sessions free of charge for the first six weeks, providing expert support and guidance for individuals to achieve a healthier heart.

Sessions run on Mondays at 9:30am or 11am with referrals from GP’s and other healthcare professionals as well as personal bookings all welcomed.

Today in the UK, 7.4 million people are living with cardiovascular disease and many have suffered, or will suffer, a heart attack as a result. Many are aware of the risk factors that can contribute towards poor heart health such as being overweight, having high blood pressure, smoking, diabetes or not getting enough exercises, but this problem still continues to grow.

The centre, boasting a well-equipped modern rehabilitation gym, consultation rooms and a vast amount of outside space to cater for almost any rehabilitation, is open to the public with the specialist team able to assess and treat a wide range of conditions in individuals aged eight and upwards.

Hampshire Wellbeing Centre Manager Dan Young said: “We are extremely driven to engage with as many people as we can to help reduce the risks of heart disease in Hampshire. Working alongside two great charities has enabled us to provide a crucial service that can truly make a difference.”

Since opening its doors at the Ageas Bowl in 2013, the Hampshire Wellbeing Centre, which is owned by Hampshire Cricket, has progressed forward significantly and now offers a range of healthcare services including physiotherapy, chiropractic services, podiatry and chiropody, massage, clinical hypnotherapy and sports therapy.

The onside gym hosts a number of classes, including active ageing classes for older people who are looking to achieve or maintain good fitness and health, alongside a joint pain class for sufferers of arthritis and achy joints.
