A WOULD-BE burglar who attempted to raid a Bournemouth home has been spared a prison sentence.

Terence Cecil French, who is also know by his alias Stephen Durham, admitted attempted burglary during an appearance at Poole Magistrates’ Court last Friday.

Magistrates heard the 57-year-old tried to break into a property in Holdenhurst Road, Bournemouth on September 11 last year.

French, of Portchester Place in Bournemouth, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months.

As part of his sentence, he must complete a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement.

He was also ordered to pay a £149 surcharge and £85 costs.
