TECHNOLOGY giant Samsung has refused to give any reason for the closure of their store in Bournemouth town centre.

As reported, the shop at the front of The Avenue shopping centre in Commercial Road closed up suddenly recently without warning.

A Samsung spokesperson said: "We can confirm that our Samsung Experience Store in Bournemouth is now closed.

"Prior to the closure, we worked closely with staff to minimise impact and conducted a full consultation process.

"Customers requiring advice or assistance with any product or service purchased from the Bournemouth store should contact Samsung on 0333 000 0333.”

When asked specifically on the reason for the closure, the spokesperson said Samsung had no further statement to make at this time.

The shop opened in 2014 and was on the first Samsung 'experience stores' to launch in the country.

Bournemouth town centre councillor Mike Greene said it was always disappointing to see a business close in the town.

"It is a shame to see it go," said Cllr Greene.

"However, we do not know all the discussions and background that has taken place."

The Avenue shopping centre is currently undergoing a major facelift.

Verve Properties is delivering the renovation of the complex's interior and exterior.

Cllr Greene said he is confident the project will be a success.

"When I met with the developers when the Conservatives were in control of Bournemouth Borough Council they were saying all the right things.

"Having seen some of the stuff they are going to be doing, it looks like something pretty special with the shopping centre."
