PROSECUTORS have dropped a shoplifting allegation against a man accused of murdering a 20-year-old near Bournemouth train station.

Jamie Frank Higgs, who is currently an inmate at HMP Winchester, had been charged with stealing two bottles of perfume worth £99.50 from Beales in Bournemouth on July 31.

The case came before magistrates at Poole this week.

However, prosecutors withdrew their allegation.

Higgs, 18, is accused of stabbing Kai Joshua Archer to death in November.

Mr Archer was fatally injured after suffering wounds to his chest in St Swithun's Road. He was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.

Higgs has since appeared before a judge at Winchester Crown Court charged with murder. He has not yet entered a plea to the charge against him.
