Eleven people in Weymouth are celebrating after winning £1,000 each thanks to their postcode.

People’s Postcode Lottery manages multiple society lotteries promoted by different charities and good causes. People play with their chosen postcodes for a chance to win cash prizes.

The latest one to come up as a daily prize winner winner was DT4 0SG which covers Benville Road at Lanehouse.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson, a singer and former X-Factor contestant, sent his well-wishes to the winners.

He said: “What an amazing surprise and a great way to start the year.”

A minimum of 32 per cent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised more than £500 million for thousands of good causes in Britain and beyond.

This draw was promoted by the Wildlife Trusts which have received more than £10.7 million in funding from players of the lottery.

The trusts run around 10,000 wildlife events each year and work to make sure that everyone has access to wildlife and nature in their daily lives.

Many good causes close to the winners have also benefitted from players’ support, and the next opportunity local charities will have to apply for funding will be January 21.
