A MOTHER from Blandford Forum and daughter are due to embark on a six-day trek across the Indian Himalayas to raise money for Wave 105 Cash for Kids in the South of England.

Sue Clutterbuck, 50, and her daughter Hattie India, 24, will be joining Wave 105 presenter Mark Collins from October 2 to 13 this year, trekking four to seven hours each day and reaching a maximum altitude of 3636m.

Having both worked closely with children in their roles as nannies, Hattie and Sue, who also works as a health visitor, know the plight of some children living in the UK and the importance of helping those in need.

Hattie, who lives in London, said: “Both my mother and I were motivated to undertake a challenge together to test our endurance, stamina and agility whilst undertaking this amazing life experience together as mother and daughter to broaden our minds and make us stronger and wiser in life.

“To be able to give something back to those who are less privileged, disadvantaged and living in poverty is a passion close to our hearts as we have seen the detrimental and long-lasting effect these conditions can have for families.

“At least being able to help a few of these children and families makes us feel very humbled.”

The pair will begin their trek in Rimbik and make their way along the Singalila ridge up to the Indian Himalaya, reaching the Sandakphu Peak at 3636 metres above sea level.

Data from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) released last March showed that 4.1 million children in the UK were classed as living in low-income households.

Wave 105 Cash for Kids looks to support children under the age of 18, who are financially, socially, emotionally or physically disadvantaged.
