POLICE and firefighters rushed to an East Dorset B-road this morning after a huge tanker overturned.

The vehicle toppled over on the B3081 between Verwood and Cranborne at around 11am.

No one was hurt. However, the road is closed while emergency services make the area safe. The vehicle will also need to be recovered.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "We were called at 11am to reports of an overturned lorry.

"The road has been closed while the vehicle was recovered."

Firefighters based at Fordingbridge Fire Station said: “We were mobilised to a collision involving an overturned tanker near Verwood.

“The scene was made safe and no other action was required.”

Crews from Ferndown, Ringwood and Blandford were at the scene to ensure the tanker, which is registered to a company in Kent, was made safe.
