CHICKEN & Blues will open a restaurant in Bournemouth town centre within the next six months.

And operators of the hugely successful hospitality chain are also planning a new concept restaurant called Flamingo in Winton.

The group, co-founded by Joshua Simons and Stephen Crawford, has gone from strength to strength since it was established in 2013.

The exact location of the 2,000 sq ft town centre restaurant has not yet been revealed because it is subject to planning permission.

But the pair have revealed it is a "a prominent site, in close proximity to high footfall shopping and leisure facilities."

Chicken & Blues already operates three restaurants in Christchurch Road, Boscombe, Wimborne Road, Winton and Commercial Road in Poole.

Its multi-award winning barbecue concept has been a huge hit with diners across the area and the aim for 2020 is to bring it to an even bigger audience.

Flamingo will be a different style of all-day dining venue offering multiple restaurant brands from the same kitchen.

It will seat around 150 guests across three individual spaces.

The three to be offered are Brenda's Burgers, a road-side burger concept, Slice Club Pizza, which sells New York-style pizza by the slice, and and all-day brunch brand, which is yet to be revealed.

Year-round dining will be offered in a feature pergola which the operators say will feel like a woodland .

Mr Simons said: "Flamingo will be a modern, creative take on a traditional neighbourhood café bar, one which guests are invited to use in multiple ways, from morning coffees and work-meetings, through to evening get togethers with friends.”

Mr Crawford, who is the group’s Finance Director, said Chicken & Blues’ performance had “exceeded expectations” over the past year. Company revenues in 2019 were up 40 per cent on 2018.

The group, which also includes an event and media business, has secured six figure funding for its expansion and is targeting group-wide revenue of £4m with the launch of the two further sites.

Ashley Brown, formerly of the Haché Burger chain in London, joined the board in June 2019.

The group then won its first national award, taking the title of Best Family Restaurant Brand at the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards in London in November.

It won the category despite strong competition from brands including Frankie & Benny’s, Giraffe, Miller & Carter, Turtle Bay and Bodean’s.
