THREE Dorset pubs are among Britain's best for 2020, according to a national guide.

The boozers have been hand-picked by officials from The Good Pub Guide Awards, which has singled out the best drinking spots throughout the UK.

Editors of the 38th edition of the guide scoured the country for the 'best of the best'.

Although none of our pubs claimed the top spots in any of the categories listed, the three made it to the top ten.

The Square and Compass in Worth Matravers is one of 2020's 'unspoilt pubs of the year'.

The Grade II-listed pub was first built in the 18th century as a pair of cottages before it was transformed into a drinking establishment. It features a museum of fossils and other local artefacts and is one of only nine nationally to be included in every edition of CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.

In the 'country pub of the year' category is The Brace of Pheasants, near Dorchester, while The Acorn of Evershot is listed in the 'wine pub of the year' list.

The Good Pub Guide is now on sale.
