TWO whole decades have passed since we were making plans to celebrate the turn of the millennium.

Since then we’ve experienced five Prime Ministers, watched five World Cup finals and have lived through 240 months.

These pictures – taken in Wareham, Swanage, Poole and Bournemouth – show local revellers as they ushered in the new age.

It was at a time when Westlife were at number one in the UK pop charts with I Have a Dream/ Seasons in the Sun and Shania Twain had the best selling album with Come on Over.

House hunters would have looked at spending just £95,475 on average and a pint of draught lager cost only £2.
