POLICE arrested five teenagers after two separate violent attacks in Poole at the weekend.

As reported, a man in his 40s suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken jaw, during an attack at Poole Bus Station at around 8pm on Saturday.

He needed surgery for his injuries.

The incident was filmed and widely shared on Facebook before it was taken down.

Two 16-year-old boys and two boys aged 13 and 15, all from Poole, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

The following day, Sunday, a man in his 60s was seriously hurt at the McDonald's near Tower Park, Poole after helping staff there ask a group of teenagers to leave.

Police were called to the eatery at 7.45pm.

The man – one of two customers injured – had been helping staff with a disruptive group. During the incident, he was punched in the face. He suffered serious injuries, including a swollen left eye, a deep cut to the eye itself, a suspected broken cheekbone and possible chipped teeth.

The second victim, who is aged in his 50s, was punched several times in the head.

A 15-year-old boy, who lives in the Poole area, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Detective Sergeant Stef Belton, of Bournemouth CID, said: “One of the victims in this incident sustained some very serious injuries and we are carrying out extensive enquiries.

“I am aware that there were a number of people in the restaurant and outside at the time and I would ask anyone who saw what happened and has not yet spoken to officers to please contact Dorset Police.”

Inspector Adrian Thompson, of Poole police, said: “I am aware this is the second serious assault reported to have occurred in the town over the weekend.

"While there is nothing at this time to suggest they are linked, I would like to reiterate that full investigations are under way and officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be continuing with their proactive patrols and can be approached with any concerns.”
