MAYFLOWER Theatre has won Best Company to work for at the Solent Business Awards to end a busy awards season for the much-loved Southampton venue.

Staff were also celebrating after being named finalists in the Company of the Year and Mental Health and Wellbeing categories.

In another success, the theatre also won the Volunteering Team of the Year 2019 at the Countess Mountbatten Hospice Corporate Awards. This was in part due to the 282 days of volunteering completed by staff members during the theatre’s refurbishment period.

With the introduction of a Health and Safety Manager came a prestigious award in recognition of the theatre’s practices and achievements in helping its staff and customers get home safely at the end of the working day.

And the theatre has achieved a Silver in the internationally-renowned RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, the longest-running industry awards scheme in the UK.

Final places were also awarded in Workplace Environment at South Coast Property Awards, Best Skills Based Volunteering Initiative (Mayflower Refurbishment) award at the CIPD Awards, Excellence in Health and Wellbeing at the Association of Business Psychology Awards and Workforce award at UK Theatre’s Off Stage Awards.

Michael Ockwell, Mayflower Theatre’s Chief Executive, said: "Mayflower Theatre staff are dedicated to offering the best possible customer service and work hard to offer all our partners and supporters inspiring experiences. We believe in supporting them and ensuring their own experience is fulfilling, it is clear that a happy team can have such a positive impact as a business.

“To have been finalists and shortlisted in so many amazing categories this awards season is a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm of our staff. What a wonderful way to head into 2020.”
