FAMILIES cosied up to farm animals to celebrate the run up to Christmas Day.

Hosted by Coastal BID, with the support of several churches such as Immanuel Church, chickens, sheep, llamas and rabbits set up camp at Southbourne Green on Saturday to celebrate the nativity season with the community.

Visitors could help brush and clean the animals for free and visit the nativity scene created by churches, as well as make a visit to Santa's Grotto.

Minister of Immanuel Church and organiser Peter Southcombe said: "We do this every week to celebrate the Southbourne community.

"This time, we are hosting a free nativity event and giving out free felt and crochet stars made by ladies in the church.

He added: "Recently, the shed which holds our nativity scene was vandalised, so we are really grateful to Wickes who gave us a free replacement."
