ELEVEN young people’s achievements were celebrated by Dorset & Wiltshere Fire and Rescue Service in a special presentation.

The fire and rescue service held a presentation at Hamworthy Fire Station to recognise the eleven youngsters, aged 16 to 25, who completed the Prince’s Trust Team programme.

The group were all awarded a Prince’s Trust Team completion certificate, presented by Lord Lieutenant of Dorset, Angus Campbell and have also achieved the Employability, Teamwork and Community Skills Qualification as well as a Level 3 First Aid certificate.

Debbie Harvey, Prince’s Trust Team Leader, said: “The team gelled together from week one and completed challenges during the residential in Dartmoor, redecorated a room on the children’s ward at Poole Hospital as part of their community project, delivered activity sessions for the elderly and gave food and drinks to the homeless.

“As part of the course each individual was required to complete a work experience placement and two of them have gained employment from this which is fantastic news.”

During the presentation, Dana Fry, one of the graduates, commented: “Before the Prince’s Trust course, I spent 90 percent of my time shut away at home with very little interaction with the outside world.

“Throughout the 12 weeks, I have learnt to work well in a team, lead activities, gained confidence in communicating with others and most importantly I now have a plan for the future.”
