A BMW driver has been arrested after a New Forest man was killed in a crash yesterday.

The victim, a 47-year-old man from Sway, was hit by a car in Town Quay, Southampton, just before 10.40pm.

He died at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the BMW X5, a 39-year-old man from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Police are investigating and are keen to speak to any witnesses.
