THE hilarious Sandi Toksvig will bring her one-woman show to Lighthouse, Poole's centre for the arts, on Friday, January 17.

Sandi's smash-hit tour National Trevor is back on road and full of funny facts, silly jokes, a quick-fire Q&A and a quiz.

Born in Copenhagen, Sandi was brought up in various locations across the world, including Europe, Africa and the United States. She began her comedy career while studying at Girton College, Cambridge, where she wrote and performed in the first all-women show at Footlights.

On television, Sandi first starred as Ethel in the long-running Saturday morning show, Number 73. She went on to appear in Call My Bluff as a regular team captain, as well as in Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Antiques Master and 1001 Things You Should Know. In 2016, Sandi took over from Stephen Fry as the host of BBC 2's QI, and replaced William G Stewart as the host of popular teatime quiz, Fifteen to One.

Since 2017, Sandi has starred alongside Noel Fielding as the co-host of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4.

Passionate about live performance and stand-up comedy, Sandi performed at the first night of The Comedy Store in London and spent many years as a member of The Comedy Store Players, an improvisational comedy team.

Sandi is also the author of more than 20 fiction and non-fiction books and has written several stage productions, including the musical Big Night Out and the Shakespeare deconstruction The Pocket Dream. Her latest novel, The End of the Sky, was published in 2017, while her new family show, Christmas at the (Snow) Globe with Jenifer Toksvig, will open this month at the Globe Theatre.

An activist for gender equality, Sandi co-founded the Women's Equality Party in 2014 and went on to receive an OBE.

Sandi Toksvig: National Trevor will be staged in the Concert Hall at Lighthouse, Poole's centre for the arts, and will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50 - £30, with concessions available for seniors, students and under-18s.
