1. Enjoy a fantastic line-up of Christmas music performed by choirs in Poole High Street on Saturday (14) between 11am and 4pm. The performances are part of events organised by the Poole Business Improvement District (BID). Call 01202 308800 for more information.

2. Sing your heart out to carols at Corfe Castle on Friday between 5pm and 7pm. Dogs on leads are welcome and normal admission fees apply, free entry for National Trust members.

3. Musical virtuoso Jools Holland and his distinguished Rhythm & Blues Orchestra play the BIC tomorrow (13) evening. Joining them will be Ruby Turner, with her breath-taking gospel, soul and rhythm and blues vocals, Louise Marshall, with her beautiful soul and jazz tones, as well as original Squeeze member and powerhouse Gilson Lavis on drums.

4. Special Santa Express trains are running on the Swanage Railway tomorrow four times a day. The one hour round trip includes a present from Santa, soft drink and biscuit. See swanagerailway.co.uk

5. Travel back in time by heading to Westover Road in Bournemouth for A Victorian Christmas. Held on Saturday between 10.30am and 4pm, you'll be able to soak up the atmosphere with Victorian nostalgia, themed windows, Victorian characters and street performers.

6. The Best Ever Christmas Show begins at the Allendale Centre, Minster Theatre, Wimborne, on Saturday and there will be performances right the way through until Christmas Eve. This year expect even more glitz, glamour, fun, buckets of laughter, audience participation and colourful costumes.

7. Witness a winter bird spectacle at the normally closed Brownsea Island on Saturday. Boats will land for two hours and visitors can use the hide to admire numerous different bird species.

8. Enjoy festive songs at Christmas Rhymetime on Swanage Pier on Saturday from 12pm to 12.45pm or take part in a hunt for Santa's Elves any time from 9am to 4pm. If the weather is bad it'll be held in the upstairs meeting rooms of Marine Villas.

9. There are two performances of a Moving Nativity produced by St James's Church of Poole on Poole Quay on Saturday at 5pm and 7pm. It starts outside the Custom House on Poole Quay and moves through the historic surroundings of Poole Old Town to the grounds of the church.

10. The Just Sing choir is performing a showcase of songs at Lytchett Minster School, Poole, on Sunday at 1pm and 4.30pm. Go to facebook.com/justsingadultchoir for tickets.
