POLICE in Poole have warned householders to be on their guard after a spate of reports of rogue traders.
Officers in the Poole North area said services offered have included power washing driveways, fixing guttering, cutting down trees and general building work, in exchange for cash.
A spokesman said: "Rogue Traders knock on your door and offer you a service, but overcharge you for poor, unnecessary, or incomplete work.
"Never accept work from anyone that offers you it over the phone or at your door. Never go to the bank with a tradesperson or give them your account details. If you think a friend, relative or neighbour has been a victim, report it to the authorities."
Police urged the public to contact Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06 to find an approved trades person.
