SANTA and his reindeer were the stars of the Boscombe Christmas Parade last weekend.

Shoppers lined the route along Hawkwood Road and Christchurch Road to the Sovereign Centre on Saturday November 30, where children were enchanted by Balloonatics balloon show and the Calvos illusionists as they waited to meet Father Christmas in his grotto.

The Mayor of Bournemouth Cllr Susan Phillips officially opened the grotto and, like many of the children there, got the chance to meet Santa and his reindeer.

Sovereign Shopping Centre Manager Peter Ruscoe said: “The Sovereign Shopping Centre Christmas Parade brought Santa to his new home at our grotto and officially launched Christmas in Boscombe.

“The parade, led by the Dolphin Marching Band, was followed by Father Christmas and his Reindeer which brought delight to everyone who came along.

“Over 100 excited children got to meet Santa on the day, with all grotto proceeds going to charity.”

Outside the Sovereign Shopping Centre, the reindeer ate carrots and were admired by excited families visiting the event and the Bournemouth Carnival Band played seasonal tunes.
