THE Sandbanks Ferry had to be suspended for a short time on Saturday due to “extremely high tide”.

Operators the Bournemouth Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company said at around 11.30am that the level was so high the ferry could not land safely on the slipways.

A spokesperson said: “Apologies for this, but we can't beat Mother Nature, and safety is our first concern.”

The ferry was back up and running at around 1.10pm.
