A BOAT remains detained at Portland Port days after it was towed in following a power failure.
MV Jireh was towed to the port in the early hours of Tuesday morning after requesting entry.
Border Force officials, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and police were called to the ship, which had been anchored in the Channel Islands for several days before travelling to the Weymouth area.
Following an inspection by the MCA's survey and inspection team the ship was detained.
It is unclear when the boat will be released.
An MCA spokesman said yesterday: "The vessel was detained because it did not achieve full compliance with merchant shipping regulations for its direction of travel, and failed to meet the MCA's on-board living standards regulations.
"The vessel will remain detained until it is fully compliant with these regulations."
The boat had been travelling from Norway to Senegal before it was caught up in poor weather conditions, the Guernsey Press reported.
Nine crew members on board were being looked after by seafarers' charity The Sailor's Society, Portland Harbour Authority CEO Bill Reeves said on Wednesday.
