A CONTENTIOUS development to demolish a Poole house and replace it with nine flats is set to be given the green light.

The scheme for 13 Danecourt Road has been recommended for approval by officers ahead of a BCP Council planning committee meeting on Thursday.

Applicants Ashdrew Ltd want to replace the existing property on the site with a block of two-bedroom flats.

The application was called in for committee review by Cllr Ann Stribley because of residents’ concerns about the proposals being “unneighbourly; out of character with the area; and change of demographics”.

Concerns raised by residents also include insufficient parking provision.

However, a report by planning officer Eleanor Godesar says: “The proposal would deliver sustainable patterns of development which would provide the social and economic benefits of eight additional dwellings within the urban area.”
