THE greenest businesses in Dorset and Hampshire are to be honoured with awards.

The Southern Sustainability Partnership will host the Gala Dinner Big Green Awards on Wednesday, November 27, at the Italian Villa in Poole.

It is described as the region’s only event dedicated to rewarding organisations in environmental management, corporate sustainability and social value, it celebrates suppliers and organisation projects in both the public and private sector.

Lynda Daniels, director at the Southern Sustainability Partnership, said: “This is the fastest-growing industry sector because these issues are as vital to running a business today as quality solutions and great customer service – and this is true no matter the size or type of operation or the sector you operate in.

“The Dorset region is rich in outstanding supplier businesses, as well as highly proactive organisations taking a significant role in reducing their carbon footprint, not to mention the contribution the sector is making to the UK economy. It is imperative these efforts are recognised and is why we host a dedicated, annual event in the Italian Villa at Compton Acres in Poole on November 27.”

Finalists for the 2019 awards so far include Dorset-based companies Dolphin Shopping Centre, Air-Site Limited, Osmond Ergonomics, Clean Energy UK, Wessex EcoEnergy, Pearce Compaction, Damers First School, Evergreen Insurance, 918 Coffee, W&S Recycling, &Keep and The Embroidery Barn.

The event is supported by Dorset-based sponsor Cheryl Hadland from Hadland Care Group – Tops Day Nurseries and the event ambassador in 2019 is Hampshire based Marc Smith, managing director of the GHS Group in Gosport.

In 2018 winners included organisations across the charity, private and public sectors from the RNLI, Bournemouth Borough Council, Clean Energy UK, Pearce Compaction, Borough of Poole, Ceuta Healthcare, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Hadland Care Group and Litter Free Coast and Sea.

Lynda Daniels said: “All our winners and runners up went away with an award and everyone enjoyed a welcome drinks reception, three-course dinner, awards ceremony and entertainment. We urge organisations to join us on the night, to see for themselves the fast-growing industry sector.”

The Southern Sustainability Partnership is also responsible for The Big Sustainability Expo, now one of the UK’s leading events for corporate sustainability exhibitions which closed its doors on its fourth expo on October 8.
