For the past 20 years, Purbeck Council has picked up the occasional bag of waste from2185 Air cadets Wareham and detached flight Swanage for no charge.
Now that we have been consumed by Dorset we have been informed that Air Cadets are classed as commercial, and must pay for their waste to be collected at the commercial rate. This also applies to Scouts and Guides.
As we are not involved in buying and selling how can this term “commercial” apply to organisations like the ATC attracting a premium rate for disposal of waste? All of these voluntary organisations will be giving up their time free of charge at the services of remembrance this weekend. Can Dorset think again?
