Busy week? Aren’t they all?
If things have been too frantic for you to keep up with the Dorset business news, here’s what you might have missed.
1. A hugely well-known Dorset employer, Welstead Southernprint, is to close with the loss of 179 jobs. It has blamed a slump in the magazine industry, with 44 titles disappearing in the past year.
2. Mothercare – once the top place to go for children’s wear and baby equipment – has gone into administration and all the stores will close.
3. There could be a strike on Yellow Buses, with staff threatening to walk out over an allegation that bosses attempted to sack a driver involved in an incident with a passenger.
4. A company that runs pleasure trips around Poole Harbour has been bought by America’s largest harbour and river cruise operator, based in San Francisco.
5. Dorset’s luxury paint and wallpaper maker Farrow & Ball received coast-to-coast exposure on the American comedy institution Saturday Night Live.
