A SPORTS centre in Broadstone will be hosting a 12-hour Spinathon to raise money for Children in Need

The event is taking place at The Junction, Broadstone’s Sports and Leisure Centre from 6am until 6pm on Saturday November 16.

Organiser Paul Stacey, who is also Managing Director at Fix I.T. Computer Services, said: “I previously arranged similar events there five and six years ago where we raise approximately £3000 each time. So, I have had five years so now it is about time I ran it again.

“At the moment there are 52 people who have signed up for the challenge, but we still have plenty of spaces for those who want to take part.”

The Spinathon will consist of 12 consecutive spin classes with 19 bikes, each lasting fifty minutes. People can choose to take part in one or try and take on all 12.

BBC Children in Need is the BBC's UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £1 billion for disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.

Paul aims to go one better than his previous events and eclipse the previous totals by raising at least £5000.

Paul continued: “It doesn’t matter what you do, it’s the taking part that counts and raising money for such a great cause.

“I’ll be only doing a couples of hours this time because last time I did it, I did 11 hours and could hardly walk the next day.”
