THE Christmas Tree-cycling scheme run by a Dorset disability charity is returning for the fifth year.

Diverse Abilities collects trees following the festive period in return for a donation towards it work with disabled children and adults throughout the county.

Collections take place between Saturday, January 11 and Monday, January 13 across Poole, Bournemouth and East Dorset and must be booked online in advance.

Nicole Davey, corporate and community manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “From collecting a modest 250 trees in our first year, we can now collect more than 1,000 trees and our volunteers work incredibly hard to deliver an excellent service.

"We are also extremely grateful to our sponsors – Maidmans Removals and Storage, Timbers Tree Care, Keyfort, and Waste Management Facilities Ltd who all provide their time and expertise enabling everything to run smoothly.”

Bookings are open now and the deadline is midnight on Thursday, January 2, or when the 1,000-tree capacity is reached. There is a suggested £10 donation for the service, with 100 per cent of money raised going back to the charity.

Diverse Abilities is looking for volunteers with or without vans to help collect trees during the collection weekend. If you can help, either with driving or collecting, email to find out more.
