A MAN is due to appear in court after police were allegedly involved in a chase in Somerford at the weekend.

Officers pursued a Vauxhall Astra late on Saturday night after it failed to stop for their vehicle, it is claimed.

A 30-year-old Christchurch man has now been charged with failing to stop when required by police and drink driving in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates' Court next week.

A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: "At around 11pm on Saturday, November 2, officers requested that a silver Vauxhall Astra stop in Lyndhurst Road in Christchurch.

"The vehicle reportedly failed to stop and officers followed the car along the A35 into the Somerford area.

"The occupants allegedly got out of the car in Somerford Road."
