THE CHARTERHOUSE two day auction on the 14 and 15 November will include various intriguing items, some of which are from the estate of the late Dame Elisabeth Frink.

Born in 1930 Elisabeth Frink studied at the Guildford School of Art and the Chelsea Schools of Art.

She is best known for her outdoor sculptures, which include the 'Dorset Martyrs' in Dorchester, 'Paternoster' at Paternoster Square and 'London and Walking Madonna' at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire.

The bronze sculptures themselves can command a million pounds, but the items being put under the Charterhouse hammer are estimated to sell at the modest price of £50 upwards.

The items in the Charterhouse auction were acquired from Elisabeth's son, Lin Jammet.

After being in storage for several years, they arrive at auction in a market fresh condition, the coating of dust adding extra character.

Director of Charterhouse Auctioneers Richard Bromwell said: "It is quite an eclectic selection, as you would expect from a family of artists."

Lots from the estate of the late Dame Elisabeth Frink form part of the Charterhouse two day auction.

On Thursday 14th November there are 550 lots of jewellery, silver and watches followed by 600 lots of Asian Art, wine, port, antiques and interiors on Friday 15th November.

Richard Bromwell also detailed some other items that will be available: "There is period oak and decorative painted Continental furniture, ceramics including a Scottish Wemyss pottery jug, bowl set painted roses and more."

Viewing for the auction, at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, is on Wednesday 13th 10am-5pm and Thursday 14th 9am-5pm.
