TWO Bournemouth charities are teaming up to brave the cold for the very first ‘Deer to Pier’ festive fun run at Bournemouth Pier.

Autism Wessex and Stable Family Home Trust both provide life-changing services for children and adults with autism and other disabilities as well as for their families.

The event takes place on Sunday December 8 at the Pier Approach, Bournemouth, at 2.30pm, with the money raised being split between the two charities.

Sara Armstrong, of Autism Wessex, said: “We are so very excited to be hosting our first joint festive fundraising event. Our Deer to Pier fun run will provide a fantastic chance for all the family to have some festive fun together whilst raising funds to help children, adults and their families affected by autism in our local area."

Hot radio will be providing live festive music at the event and runners will also have the chance to have your photo taken with Autism Wessex’s very own mascot, Fidget the Cat.

Anyone who takes part will get their own set of reindeer antlers complete with a flashing red nose, adding the finishing touches to any fancy-dress costumes, which runners are invited to wear.

Tracey Hickford, of SFHT said: “We are indebted to local businesses for all their support in particular, Preston Redman for sponsoring the event, as well as The Gym Tin, the Relay team at Bournemouth University, Dorset Police Cadets, The Works, Aruba, the organisers of Littledown Fireworks and our friends at Hot Radio. We could not have created this fantastic event without their generous help.”
