TWO people were found knee-deep in water trying to salvage their vessel during stormy weather at the weekend.

Poole’s lifeboat volunteers were called to Holes Bay at 9.55am on Saturday morning following a report that people had been seen “frantically bailing out water” from a tender tied to a barge.

A spokesperson for Poole Lifeboat Station said: “The lifeboat crew checked the people were okay and to prevent further risk to the owners got to work with the salvage pump, once the swamped tender was rendered safe., the crew recommended it be moved to the other side of the barge to a more sheltered position.”

The crew returned to the station and were ready for service by 11.30am.

The callout was the station’s 150th shout this year.
