THE residents of Poole’s most festive street have announced when they will be switching on their famous Christmas lights.

The lights in Runton Road, Branksome, will be turned on at 5.30pm on Saturday, December 14.

Miss Poole Samantha Bumford will be returning to carry out the countdown.

A spokesperson for the Runton Road Christmas lights group on Facebook said there would be a new dance group to keep visitors entertained once the Christmas lights have been switched on.

The following day, singer Paul Walker and Susie Kimber will be providing entertainment.

Then on December 21, Bitter Sweet Harmony Community Choir will be singing between 6pm and 7.30pm.

The lights, which are switched on between 4.30pm and 10pm each day, attract thousands of visitors each year and have been wowing the crowds for around 20 years.

Each year residents involved raise thousands of pounds for charity with around 46 out of the 51 properties in the street transforming their homes.

In 2015, Runton Road was featured on BBC’S The One Show when their big switch on was witnessed by millions of viewers.
