ORGANISERS behind Bournemouth’s biggest fireworks display say the event will still go ahead this weekend after a weather warning was issued.

The display takes place at the Littledown Centre on Saturday evening with gates opening at 5.30pm.

On Friday, the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning for strong winds on Saturday.

The warning is valid from 4am until 6pm and covers the whole of Dorset.

People are being urged to prepare for travel disruption.

The event will see three fireworks displays take place at 7pm, 8pm at 9pm.

Event organiser Michael Callaghan said: "As we have such a large site it is easy for us to position the fireworks and the viewing area so everything is safe, and the displays will be just as impressive.

“Fortunately, we do not have a bonfire as this might prove an issue, but we have three displays instead. My events team are working all through the night to ensure the event goes ahead and is safe for all customers to enjoy."

Tickets on sale now priced £8 for adults and £5 for children from the Littledown Centre and eventbrite.co.uk or call 01202 055550. Entry is free for under threes.
