AN embarrassed woman caught on CCTV raiding a Boscombe boxing club has apologised and offered to return stolen items and clean the gym.

Club owner Marc Plunkett released images after his club was raided twice in one night.

Since then a woman has told him she was “very drunk” and said she will bring back sweatshirts and T-shirts she took in the early hours raid.

Mr Plunkett said he will not pursue a police complaint against the woman.

He said: “She was embarrassed about what she’d done whilst very drunk, and wanted to return the clothes but was too scared of what might happen.

“I’ve told her nothing will happen, I just want the stolen items back. She then said she’ll return them, is very sorry, thanked me for being so understanding, and if I need the gym cleaned she will do it. “

Mr Plunkett contacted police after two raids at BodySnatchers Boxing in the early hours of Sunday morning.

He had boarded up windows at the front of the Sea Road club because one of them was cracked.

At around 1.30am a man was seen forcing his way through the window and wandering around the inside of the gym.

He went behind the desk and appeared to be looking for money, before leaving the shop.

More than four hours later a woman was seen to clamber through the broken glass before leaving with arms full of branded T-shirts and sweatshirts.

The distinctive black items of clothing have BodySnatchers emblazoned across them in gold letters.

The club has only been open for three weeks and already has 50 adults members and 30 child members.

Mr Plunkett said he has been made very welcome in Boscombe and thanked the community for their help after the burglaries.

He said: “The way the people and businesses have been since hearing of the break-in has been unbelievable.

“This is a really great community which is thoughtful and caring. It’s a shame that part of Boscombe isn’t spoken about more often.”
