OLYMPIC rowing gold medallist, Kat Copeland will perform the opening ceremony on Dorset's newest Aldi store which opens in Gillingham on Thursday November 21.

As it gears up for the big day, Aldi has revealed more details about what north Dorset shoppers can expect to find.

Standing at 1,254 m2 of retail space on Kingmead Park, the Gillingham store will be the third Aldi in the area and will be run by manager, Mike Ashby.

Aldi Gillingham will offer large chillers and freezers dedicated to fresh, British meat products, a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store, a new fixture along the back wall showcasing Aldi’s award winning beers, wines and spirits, and an exclusive section devoted to its award-winning health and beauty products.

Customers can expect to find Aldi’s Specially Selected range, weekly fresh meat offers and Super 6 fruit and vegetables at the new store. Specialbuys will also be available every Thursday and Sunday, offering a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

On the opening day the first 30 customers through the door will receive a complimentary bag of fresh fruit and vegetables from the Super 6 range.

Aldi says its new store will bring a number of job opportunities to the area. The retailer aims to have 1,200 stores by 2025.
