IF you love music, love words and love food, then you’ll love the event at Sladers Yard, West Bay, on the first day of BridLit on Sunday, November 3 at 12 noon.

Further Adventures in Words and Music is a change to the published programme. It features A Quartet of Musical Wordsmiths, comprising poet and author Matt Harvey, multi-instrumentalist storyteller Daniel Marcus Clark, lively saxophonist Andy Williamson and the ever-stellar piano player, Philip Clouts.

Writer, poet, enemy of all that’s difficult and upsetting, Matt is based in Devon. His way with words has taken him from Totnes to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships via Saturday Live, the Edinburgh Festival and the Work section of the Guardian.

Daniel Marcus Clark is an award-winning creative director, writer, storyteller and composer who specialises in imaginative ideas that connects people with the magic of stories and literature. He is the creator and founder of Earfilms - a technique for sharing stories that uses a mixture of spoken word, 3D sound design and musical soundtracks to create multi-layered immersive pieces.

Sax man Andy Williamson has shared the stage with Jamie Cullum and has played with BBC 6music’s Tom Robinson and Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, and sung duets with Suggs from Madness, taking the place of the then recently departed Ian Dury.

Philip Clouts was born in Cape Town and the music of his homeland has stayed with him as he has continued on a voyage of discovery which has led him across all five continents, soaking up Caribbean calypso and the soulful strains of the Indian subcontinent while honouring and learning from jazz heroes. In 2006 he moved to Charmouth.

Tickets to the event are just £12 and can be booked online at bridlit.com or by calling in at Bridport Tourist Information Centre, 01308 424901. You can also book in for a two-course lunch at £20 by telephoning Sladers Yard on 01308 459511.
