TV funny man Romesh Ranganathan brought the house down at Bournemouth Pavilion last night - and looks set to do so two evenings running.

The father-of-three had to add an extra date in town on his ‘The Cynic’s Mixtape’ tour due to popular demand.

After a couple of hours in his company, it was easy to see why.

This is a brutally honest show full of putdowns and comic observations, delivered with impeccable timing and heaps of charm.

Topics on the agenda were his veganism, attracting criticism on Twitter and why trying to save the environment is a scam.

There were digs at Piers Morgan, a story about losing his son at the beach and his suspicion that his wife is using gluten intolerance to avoid sleeping with him.

Romesh is not afraid to poke fun at himself, bringing up this, having ‘the testosterone levels of an 80-year-old man’ and the tests of being a father.

All too soon it was over, and we were applauding the end - but not for long.

Romesh was quickly back on stage, saying: ‘I don’t do a proper encore and leave the stage. I want you to feel like you have got your money’s worth, but I do want to go.’

He was witty to the last moment, with a tale from Center Parcs including a very funny impression of Fireman Sam and his take on ‘Build a bear’ stores.

Despite playful jibes about the Bournemouth crowd, he was complimenting us by the close, and praised the audience for being ‘sick tonight’ and ‘truly amazing’.

Then he got us all to join in with a rap, and was off. Tonight’s fans have fun in store.
