THE long-adjourned trial of Harry Redknapp's son Mark will continue next week.

As reported, Mark Redknapp, 49 and of Minterne Road in Poole, is accused of getting behind the wheel of a Mercedes C63 while 15 times the drug-drive limit. He was allegedly pulled over in Penn Hill Avenue, Poole on April 2 2018.

Prosecutors claim he had 749 micrograms of cocaine derivative benzoylecgonine per litre of blood. The limit is 50.

The case first came to court in February this year. However, it has since been adjourned to later dates on a series of occasions.

Redknapp has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In April, his legal team called the prosecution evidence against him into question with lawyer, Phillip Lucas, making an application for the case to be withdrawn due to lack of evidence.

District Judge Stephen Nicholls said he would need time to consider the arguments. The case was due to be heard again on April 29, and then, when that date passed, on June 13.

However, the summer came and went without the case being resolved.

Earlier this week, the case was relisted to confirm a further full-day hearing. That is set to take place at Poole Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A previous hearing heard that Redknapp was stopped by police at 8pm on April 2 last year in the Canford Cliffs area.

It was alleged that his eyes were 'droopy' and he was cleaning his tongue with his teeth.

He was arrested after 'testing positive for a road side drug test', it was claimed.

The trial continues.
