AN ANCIENT Welsh tale can be heard at the next Bridport Story Café.

The café, at the Lyric Theatre on Thursday, October 24, will host acclaimed storyteller Michael Harvey and voice teacher, singer and composer Pauline Down.

The pair have worked all over the world and are leaders in their fields of story and song.

Michael and Pauline will share the tale of Branwen, one of the greatest Celtic myths, an ancient Welsh story with an intimate relationship with the landscape where it is set as well as the landscape of the human soul. It is a story of magical transformation, extreme characters, wildness, fury and longing. The story has a different shape from many others and is rooted in deep dream logic that still talks to us directly many centuries after its composition.

Michael and Pauline are also offering an exciting one-day experiential storytelling course on Saturday,October 26 from 9.30am to 4pm. Freeing the storyteller’s voice is intended for those who have already done some storytelling and offers developmental tools to make voices clearer and more free and help with resonance and spontaneity.
