A MAN in his 80s has died after his car collided with a wall in Poole yesterday morning.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Tatnam Road shortly before 7.50am following a single-vehicle collision involving a red Ford.

The air ambulance also landed on the field at Poole High School, which is in nearby Wimborne Road.

The driver of the Ford was rushed to hospital by land ambulance.

However, despite the efforts of emergency services, he was later pronounced dead.

His next of kin has been informed. Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson from the ambulance service said: "We were called at 7.52am to reports of a road traffic incident, reportedly involving one car.

"We have attended with two ambulances, an air ambulance, an operations officer and a rapid response vehicle.

"One patient has been taken to hospital via land ambulance for further treatment."

Firefighters were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson from the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews from Poole attended a road traffic collision involving a car into a wall.

"On arrival there were no persons trapped but one male was treated by the ambulance service and fire crews made vehicle safe."

The road was briefly closed. However, it has since reopened.
