SUMMER just feels like a distant memory now doesn't it?
With ex-hurricane Storm Lorenzo heading our way in the last few days, now seems like the ideal time to look on the bright side and appreciate a couple of photos showing that Weymouth Beach is enjoyable in all weathers.
Here we have cute as a button youngster Jane Leckie, then two, pictured in the winter of 1999 with her nanny Frances Nissim enjoying a picnic on Weymouth Beach!
Nanny Frances and Jane, from Compton Valence, near Dorchester, found time to enjoy the resort's sands when temperatures reached a maximum of 45 degrees F - that's a chilly 7c in new money!
Frances said that she and Jane quite often took a picnic in the winter and visited various Dorset beaches.
The second photo we have here dates back to the winter of 1989 and it shows the very hardy Brown brothers of Great Bedwyn near Marlborough braving a deserted Weymouth beach in the winter and vigorously digging away to make their sandcastles. We applaud such enthusiasm!
