HUNDREDS of young runners have been taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival.

Youngsters ranging from three to 18-years-old pounded along the promenade at Bournemouth seafront to compete in four separate events.

Children aged three to six-years-old took part in the Kids Kilometre, while the Junior 1.5k saw six to eight-year-olds set off from Bournemouth Prom to the Lower Gardens.

Scores of children aged nine to 12 entered the Junior 2K with the Junior 5k for runners aged 11 to 18-years-old.

Saturday will also see the Supersonic 10k set off at 4pm, followed by the bright Supernova 5k at 7pm.

The half-marathon starts at 8am on Sunday, with the full marathon following at 10am.

Both of these events will start in Kings Park.

Tomorrow is set to be dry and sunny with highs of 17C predicted.
