A MAJOR search was carried out along the coast for a 'high-risk' missing person after a car was found abandoned at a Purbeck beauty spot.
The car was found at Lulworth Cove on Monday afternoon.
Lulworth, Kimmeridge and Wyke Coastguard teams were mobilised, Weymouth lifeboat launched and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter scrambled to join police in the search.
A spokesman for Lulworth Coastguard said: "The team were paged at 4.15pm to assist Dorset Police after a high-risk missing person's car was found at Lulworth Cove.
"We worked with our SCOO, Kimmeridge Coastguard, Wyke Coastguard CRT, Weymouth Lifeboat, Rescue 175, Purbeck Police and Dorset Traffic Cops.
"Happily, after hours of searching in appalling conditions, the person found at Durdle Door holiday park."
"All assets were stood down by 8pm. Great multi agency team work with a successful outcome.
"Massive thanks to all those involved."
