MORE than 100,000 passengers will have used Yellow Buses’ open toppers by the end of the season.

The bus operator recorded more than 84,000 journeys between Easter, when the service started, and the end of August.

With the service still running between Boscombe and Sandbanks on a seasonal hourly timetable until the end of September, operators say this figure will be smashed.

Buster’s Beach Bus was new for summer 2019, but incorporated a section of route between Bournemouth and Alum Chine which already operated with open top buses.

During the first six weeks of operation the open-toppers had already carried 24,000 passengers.

Managing Director of Yellow Buses David Squiresaid: “For a newly introduced service the number of customers that we have carried has been amazing. We are really pleased with the success of the open-toppers and they will definitely be back for 2020.”

He added: “We will be investing in our open top fleet for the summer of 2020 by buying some newly converted vehicles to be branded in our iconic Yellow Bus livery featuring, of course, Buster Bear.”

The extended route with kick off again in time for the Easter school holidays on April 5, 2020.
