THE person who died after being hit by a train near Poole railway station was a teenage boy, police have confirmed.
Police attended the track between Baiter and Poole Park shortly before 8.50am on Monday.
British Transport Police said: "Paramedics also attended, however, sadly a teenage boy was later pronounced dead.
"His next of kin have been informed.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are in the process of preparing a report for the coroner."
Following the incident rail services were at a standstill between Poole and Bournemouth for much of the day.
The air ambulance also landed at Baiter Park.
Response teams from South Western Railway also attended the scene to help emergency services.
The death comes just days after another casualty was killed on the tracks near Boscombe.
