A 'DISTRESSED dog' prompted calls to the emergency services on Sunday evening.
Swanage's Lifeboat volunteers were among the teams who joined a search of Durlston Bay at around 9pm.
A spokesperson from the team said: "A distressed dog had been reported to police. After an initial search, neither the dog nor its owner could be found.
"The lifeboat was tasked to search Durlston Bay for anything out of the ordinary and a thorough search of the area was carried out, along with volunteers from the Swanage Coastguard.
"After about 45 minutes, and with nothing found, the search was suspended pending further information."
